Your 101 Guide To Radiant Skin!!

Youthful skin is definitely what we all dream of and work hard to achieve. It’s usually a reflection of how old we feel than our real age. You know, we have seen many older women with flawless and radiant skin that any teenager would dream of.

 

Asking physicians and researching my own way around my number-one skin issue (Black eye circles) made me reach one simple conclusion: “Fix your insides to reflect on your outsides.” Your skin is simply a manifestation of the way you treat your body internally and externally. So I came up with a simple list of things you may do naturally (beside your daily beauty routine) to help keep your skin healthy, radiant and problem-free:

 

Hydration is vital for all your body parts and extremely important for your skin. Drinking sufficient water every day will keep your skin firm, fresh and radiant.  People who do not drink a lot of water suffer from dry, flaky skin as well as many other problems. Water is everywhere (at least for now!) So make the best use of it.

Avoid direct sunlight (especially after 10am and before 4pm.) Direct sun exposure can cause serious skin problems, all the way to skin Cancer. The darkening of the skin dries out the skin and eventually creates wrinkles. Make sure you always wear good-quality sun block whenever you are out in the sun.

Eat Healthy. Fresh fruits and vegetables give the skin the necessary nutrients to help it remain youthful. Fatty and processed foods age the skin and increase oil secretion and therefore give you pimples that may end up leaving scars.

Decrease Caffeine intake because high caffeine might increase black circles, colorize your teeth and make you look older.

Commit to regular exercise to keep your skin firm and toned. It does not matter what type of sports you play as long as it is consistent. Also note that tough types of sports seem to affect the skin negatively by increasing wrinkles.

Have a sleeping pattern, because late-night sleep usually makes your skin look exhausted and lead to quicker ageing.

Have a daily beauty routine of facial wash, toner and day & night creams. This will help soften the skin. Make sure your face is always clean and refreshed.

 

According to Dr. Mohamed L. Elsaie (a Lecturer of Dermatology in the National Research Center and a voluntary instructor of dermatology at the University of Miami, USA); artificial fragrances, such as perfumes or colognes, usually contain lots of chemicals that aren’t good for your skin. Whether the chemicals cause an allergy attack or not, continually using them will have harmful effects on the skin. A youthful look can be achieved by using rose oil as a moisturizer, but it is quite expensive. Another nice fragrance that can help your skin tone, while healing irritations, is lavender. The same way that you stay healthy, which includes drinking enough water, and eating the right foods, is in direct proportion to how you maintain healthy skin. To look young and vibrant, Dr. Mohamed gives the below advice:

 

General tips: 1. Detoxify the body on a regular basis. 2. Drink more water. 3. Eat more healthy fats. 4. Make sure you’re getting high quality sleep. 5. Moisturize with the right moisturizer.

 

Regimens

Step #1: Exfoliating cleanser. Glycolic acid loosens the top layer of skin and fine grains gently slough off dead cells. Use it two to three times a week, alternating with a gentle liquid or milk cleanser, and you’ll be glowing. The exfoliating cleanser is not appropriate for sensitive skin types, but is perfect for resistant skin types who need stronger products to see a difference in their skin. Choose a creamy cleanser if you have dry skin or a clear cleanser if you have oily skin. Be careful not to cleanse too often, you risk over-cleansing skin. If you have dry skin, consider cold cream like Pond’s or otherwise general cleansers like Clearasil, Clean and Clear, Clinique Facial Cleanser would do the job appropriately.

 

Step #2: Use a toner to pick up left-over dirt. The step many times forgotten is using a toner. Simply apply toner onto a cotton ball and swipe over your face paying special attention to the areas that may be forgotten such as the crevices around your nose.

Step#3: Use a light moisturizer. Many people with oily skin are afraid of moisture, but guess what? Your skin needs it. Use something light, like a serum to give your face the moisture it needs

Step#4: Always wear your sun block. The cause of wrinkles is sun damage, so it’s important to use a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF from your early years on, even in winter days. When choosing a sunscreen, make sure it contains Mexoryl (found in my favorite sunscreen La-Roche Posay) or Helioplex, found in Neutrogena products. Don’t get carried away by signs and banners praising SPF 100 sunscreen because scientifically and as noted by the FDA, a sunscreen can only provide a maximum protection factor of 50, no more. UVE block, Clinique, Aveeno and borgasone are all good to use brands.

 

Evening Routine

Step #1: Use the same cleanser as in the morning.

Step #2: Use the same products as in the morning.

Step #3: Use a finger tip unit of Retinols. Retinol is a natural form of vitamin A. This class of products known as “retinoids” represents the only topical treatment that’s proven to reduce wrinkles and increase collagen production. Recommended to use Retin-A, Skinceuticals Retinol, and Neutrogena Ageless Intensives.

 

Additional Weekly Skin-Care Needs for Oily Skin

–      Exfoliate once or twice a week. Exfoliating your skin helps you get rid of the dead cells and encourage cell turnover, which brings healthy skin to the surface faster. If you’re acne-prone, be gentle. Over-exfoliation can cause more breakouts. Products available for this in the Egyptian market could be Physiodermie® exfoliating gel, Academie® Exfoliating gel and Clinique® exfoliating scrub.

 

Use a weekly mask. There are some fantastic masks on the market that help clean out your pores and tighten them. Large pore size is a common complaint for those with oily skin. So pick a day each week for your weekly mask. It will quickly become a routine when you see the difference it makes. Masks made with clay are great for that kind of oily skin.

 

There are many natural masks made of natural ingredients that help nourish the skin, remove its tiredness and add a great glow to it. Make sure you use a mask once a week that suits your skin type. Below are examples of masks suiting different skin types that may increase radiance and give you that youthful glow you may be after.

 

Banana Face Mask 

Ingredients:
• Half a banana (mashed)
• One egg white
• One tablespoon curd
Preparation:
Mash the banana. Mix well the egg white and curd. Apply on face. Wash after fifteen minutes. Banana is the best for a glowing skin.
Face Mask for Instant Fair and Glowing

Ingredients:
•Honey 2 tblsp
•Lemon juice 2 tblsp
Preparation:
Mix both the ingredients and apply on your face for about half an hour. Wash your face with water.
Oatmeal Face Mask for Fair Skin at Home

Ingredients:
•Oatmeal 2 tblsp
•Tomato juice 1 tblsp
•Yogurt 2 tblsp
Preparation:
Prepare the paste of oatmeal, tomato juice and yogurt or curd. Apply on your face for 20 minutes. After that wash with cold water. It will scrub away the dead skin and all the dirt from your face. This face pack will also help you get fairer skin.
Potato and Lemon Face Mask

Ingredients:
•Potato Juice
•Lemon juice
Preparation:
Mix both the juices in equal quantity. Apply on your body parts that are exposed to the sun. Wait for 15 minutes and wash with water.
Milk Cream and Saffrons Face Mask for Bright Skin

Ingredients:
•Milk Cream 2tblsp
•Saffron
Preparation:
Mix milk cream with Saffron and leave overnight. In the morning, blend the milk cream with fingers and apply on the face. A few drops of lemon juice will be of extra benefit.
