2017 was not an ordinary year in Egypt; everyday there was fussy event or a new story to tell. But, some events didn’t just end easily like other ones and people kept tattling and jabbering on them till the next ones. Here is our list for the buzziest events in 2017!
Amr Yousef and Kinda Aloush’s Wedding Ceremony
It wasn’t just a wedding ceremony, but TWO! On the 15th of January, Amr and kinda’s wedding photos spread out all over the social media. And people started murmuring about the dress and the private event. But, a few days later every face you have ever seen on the TV screen has checked in Aswan to attend the wedding of the year.
Amr Diab’s Concert at North Coast
Of course it’s not Amr’s first concert at North coast, so what makes this event extraordinary? The concert was right after the release of his latest albums, which included “Borg El Hout” song that people alleged it was specifically for Dina ElSherbiny. The venue was completely full and everyone was waiting to listen if he is going to sing it or not. Surprisingly, he sang the song for another zodiac sign. Do you remember which one was it? A hint a sturdy sign 😉
El Gouna Film Festival
Although it was the first edition of the festival, it was unlike any other Egyptian movie festival. The coastal venue was a perfect choice to gather all celebs from all over the Arab world and other different countries. On the grand opening night, glamour and festivities filled the air and our beloved stars were stunningly dressed to the nines on the red carpet. What was unique about this event is the 24 hour coverage through social media and the fun activities that went live all day long, thanks to the Sawiris Family.
Mashrou Leila Concert
Okay, we all know that it is not the first concert for the Lebanese band in Egypt, but this one was up roaring. It all started when a concertgoer waved the rainbow flag up high for several seconds. This was the first time the flag is publicly raised in Egypt, and then it was an explosion of social media posts. Sure you have been bombarded by it one way or the other! 😀
Hamaky and Haifa Wahebe at the AUC
The event would have just passed if it hadn’t been for Haifa’s olive hot shorts. A female journalist has lodged a complaint against Haifa at the syndicate of musicians, in objection to the shorts. And the syndicate summoned her manager to warn him regarding Haifa’s outfits in her upcoming concerts in Egypt. Snap!!
We Made It to Russia 2018
On 8 October 2017, Egypt was qualified to the World Cup 2018 in Russia, after 28 years of absence. At Borg El Arab stadium, in the last minutes of the football event of the year, Mohamed Salah sparked our night with the second goal against Congo. The goal that have booked our seats in the upcoming World Cup. It’s fireworks all over the sky!!
