Family is where life begins and love never ends, We love our families and spend so much effort trying to make money to provide them with the most comfortable lifestyle — but sometimes we forget that giving our family and kids our time is more important than providing them with cool clothes or the latest technology trends.
Summer break is over, but it’s never too late for some good old fashioned family bonding activities that you can still enjoy together in weekends. Here’s a bunch; so go ahead and celebrate family quality time!
1-Home Video Night
All kids love to see themselves when they were younger. Pop in a tape of their younger days or create a slideshow using pictures of them growing up. Parents wedding tapes also fascinate kids. You can also create some new material; like creating a small family dance or song for when they grow older to play at their graduations, 21st or even weddings, you will surely have funny bloopers and treasuries of memories.
2-Cook and Eat
Always remember the family who eats together, stays together. So make it a point to have a “Family Meal Night”, where you and everyone prepares food; you can even have a world cuisine day, and enjoy delicacies from various countries. This is a great lesson in teamwork and everyone will love the tasty meal cooked together. Encourage your child to come with her own dish, of course with you as a helper along the way!
3-Play Exciting Games
A fun-packed weekend needn’t cost a fortune. Board games such as scrabble, Monopoly, Cards, Chess, Uno or even “Tawla” are a great way to make the weekend fun for all members of the family. Dig out the old board games from the attic and teach a new generation to play and interact. Yet you can still add the technology to those thrilling nights by playing some playstaion, xbox or wii together.
4-Learn New Skill
Learn a new skill with your child, such as horseback riding, pottery, or ballet. Children find it affirming to see you struggling to master new skills, just as they are. You can also go sporty learn basketball, swimming, biking, tennis or even run together or just walk and enjoy a chat, listen to your kids adventures and appreciate their stories. Be their best friends and listen to what thrills them the most and what they would want to pursue.
5-Go Crafty & Artistic
Gather sticks, pebbles, seashells, leaves or any other natural objects from the beach or around your area. Google out or check pinterest for ways to frame it and create some spot on art to hang and be proud of. You can also get some water colors and paint together or have a paint fight! You can always explore some DIY projects and execute them together, you will sure enjoy your achievements and your teamwork!
6-Volunteer For Some Good Deeds
Cook for the poor or homeless and distribute those hearty meals around, those needy people are around us everywhere every day. Rearrange your kid’s cupboard and check with them what doesn’t fit anymore to offer them to any organization that can distribute to the less fortunate. This will not only be a loving and fruitful activity for you as a family but it will have a great impact on how your kids are raised; making them aware of the blessings they are showered with as well as mindful of others. Your kids do not turn to what you want them to be; they turn into what you are. Therefore do what you want them to be and do!
You don’t choose family, they are god’s gift to you as you are to them. Family is like a tree has many branches that grow in different direction, yet share the same root, keep it watered continuously and never under- estimate the power of quality time spent together, it works miracles and you will definitely bare its fruits later.
