5 years have passed since the start of Egypt’s one-of- a-kind motorcycle and scooter rally, Cross Egypt Challenge. And this season of the famous rally came about in a continuous effort to promote tourism and to prove that Egypt is safe for travels.
2016 Challenge included 9 stages that compromised a total distance of 3,000 km, which is considered the longest route in the history of the challenge to date. And for the third year in a row, Cairo Marriott chose to support Cross Egypt Challenge as the official hotel sponsor having their very own branded scooter joining the challenge! All with eagerness to promote our destination; Egypt.
A German Engineer, a father, and a business owner for 15 years, Stefan Hauser who decided to tour the world with his wife Annette Hauser (after selling their own business back in 2013 and sending their only child to college) was present at the press conference sharing his adventure in Cairo Marriott’s prestigious Aida Ballroom with the crowd.
This season also included riders from: USA, Australia, United Kingdom, India, Denmark, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Austria, Italy, Palastine and Egypt.
The challenge began from the Mediterranean’s largest seaport city; Alexandria, then headed south to the capital Cairo en route. Then particpants rode the Nile Valley and the Egyptian western desert to Minya on the shore of the River Nile as they went to the ancient city of Luxor, the world’s largest open air museum city, and the capital of Ancient Egypt.
