Think you know something about style? Well, think twice! Becoming a fashion stylist is definitely a difficult business! There are very few websites and guidebooks to help you figure out the details; but unless you have a mentor, you’re really on your own! So we jumped at Ghadir Al Agabany, the well-informed fashion consultant and stylist, for a little chit-chat about fashion and style, and here’s what she’s about…
How did you discover your passion for fashion & styling?
It all started with a simple interest in the industry as a whole. I started back in the 90s from the beginning of the ladder as a Sales Representative. Then, consecutively, I got promoted to store and brand management. After some extensive practical experience, I enhanced my knowledge with post-graduate studies in business management to finally become a Fashion Marketing Consultant.
Your definition of a Look Extraordinaire?!
I believe a look extraordinaire goes down to two main points, being yourself and being creative. This is the beauty of fashion! It’s all about going out of the box, breaking the norms and creating your own individual look.
New, feel-good fashion trends for 2017?
If you’re in the industry or a keen follower, you would comprehend that fashion does not change. It’s the way we style fashion that makes all the difference. As for the trend now, well, I see daring audacity of loud puffy oversized collections with lots of transparency and vivid earth colors.
Styling tip that would make the look stand out?
Solid colors, believe it or not, are key to an outstanding look. Bold contrasting tones are eye-catching and trendily fashionable.
Certain names you prefer working with?
Designers in Egypt are developing and increasingly flourishing. I had the pleasure to work with many fantastic talents like Dina Shaker, Nazeeka, Norine Farah, Sherine Hussein, Temraza, Sherine Begermy, Eman Saab, Maison Saeedy and many many others.
Does it feel good working with celebrities?
Absolutely. It is a different experience which nourishes your creativity and enhances your experience vastly.
Which is more important: being stylish or feeling comfortable?
Why can’t we have both?! That’s the best feeling to reach! With a mixture of creativity and rationality, one could definitely look comfortably stylish. It just needs some experimenting and practice.
