Marketing is no longer about the stuff you make, it’s about the stories you tell! The strength of your social media is determined by the strength of your content. Yet how can you race through this fast growing pace?! Luckily we got some precious guidelines at the Mashable Social Media Day that was held for 3 days at AUC’s Greek Campus.
The event gathered around 4000 attendees from marketeers, entrepreneurs, students to startup companies and digital agencies. 100+ speakers hit up the stage with their powerful motivating words starting with the hard-to-miss, bluish-haired Alexandra Maia, founder & CEO of @House_of_social who flew from Dubai to Egypt for the first time to educate us on the 2017 MENA TRENDS and how to build a personal brand using social media. Alexandra certainly impacted our souls with her words “ Stay away from the negativity, be happy and deploy your energy to what matters”.
Digital fans were showered with hints and tricks from Ahmed Omar, owner of www.kasrzeroegypt.com; on how to get their first 100,000 subscribers. Then came Amr Wahba _the famous comedian and scriptwriter for Abla Fahita, Al Plateau, Asad Allah Masa’akom and Saturday Night Bel Arabi, who turned our heads with the secrets of script writing for social media that would keep our audience interested.
Kara Mjones, the global Marketing Manager for the Cross-Border Business brought about some keys to go global on Facebook. And we then enjoyed a mouth-watering talk about The Foodies Revolution by Marwan, Managing Director at Cairo Spots; Mostafa, “Egyptian Foodies” blogger; Mido, foodie and home chef; and the architectural student, photographer, food stylist and baker, Eman.
Salizon- The Planet, founder and hilarious host Ingy abou Elso’ud, walked us through her bumpy journey toward success in becoming a hit presenter and copywriter along with the well-known comedian critic and strategic analyst, Hisham Afifi. To add more light-hearted wittiness to the day, Marwan Younis smacked the stage to tutor us on how to accept our sad reality in the form of funny sarcasm.
Designing tips were a must, with the creative art director and illustrator Akram William leading us through creative bank, art blocks and character design in branding; inspiring us with his statement, “Good art and motivation requires a lot of SACRIFICE” . To add the cherry on top, we were pleased to witness the keynote speech of the second Facebook Mark, Mark Hamilton, Facebook’s regional Marketing Manager of Middle East, Africa and Turkey who drifted our visions towards the future of communication and connectivity. To sum up, these were just highlighted few drops in an endless ocean of creative speakers and influencers.
