Under the theme “Mental Health Challenges in Film Industry”, the Malmö Arab Film Festival hosted a powerful panel discussion featuring Egyptian actor Mina El-Naggar _ founder of MedFest Egypt; mental health expert Louise Johansson; and Lebanese actress Nada Abou Farahat.

The conversation highlighted the responsibility the film industry has towards the mental wellbeing of those working behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

Dr. El-Naggar emphasized the need for better support systems for actors, including dedicated channels of communication to address pressures faced during the creative process.

Lebanese actress Nada Abou Farahat spoke openly about the challenges of maintaining the wellness of one’s mental state in the public eye, while Louise Johansson shed light on the struggles faced by those working behind the camera.

Egyptian actress Bushra even proposed having a psychiatrist on set to help actors navigate the emotional demands of their roles.

This important discussion is a reminder of the need to prioritize mental health in all aspects of the film industry.
